Sermon, 10th Sunday after Trinity, 2023

Hosea 4:6 begins, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”  Upon entering the city, Christ condemns Jerusalem saying, “If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.”   And in the epistle, St. Paul states, “Concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.”  Do we, the Church, know the Word of God written very well?  Do we know the Word of God Incarnate very well?  My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Sermon, 7th Sunday after Trinity

What is contained in the biblical concept of “The Wilderness”?  How is this significant in the miracle of Christ’s feeding of the 4000 men in Mark 8?  This sermon is an introduction to taming the “wilderness” of the soul.  Just as He provided for the people in the wilderness, Christ provides what we need to transform our wilderness into a garden. Sermon, 6th Sunday after Trinity, 2023

July 16, 2023 Art points us to God, but not all expression is art.  Much of what passes for art is merely a commodity, and it solidifies us as we are.  Real aft demands something from us and changes us if we receive it.  God, like art, cannot be used, but must be received, and we receive God in baptism. Sermon, 4th Sunday after Trinity, 2023

The Enlightenment has stunted our spiritual imaginations.  Yet St. Paul affirms the reality of a spiritual world, imbued with the Spirit of God and created to bring us to our final home in the presence of God. Propers    Manuscript

Sermon, 3rd Sunday after Trinity, 2023

Christ seeks the lost with love divine, all loves excelling.  Satan seeks to destroy the lost with the most hellish hate.  Do not give place to the devil through your pride, but instead humble yourself that God may exalt you in due time. Propers    Manuscript

    Sermon, Sunday After Ascension, 2023

We, the redeemed of the Lord, are waiting His return.  In this “already and not yet” world, how are we to live?  We are to expect persecutions, but we have the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us in this present age. Homily, Ascension Day, 2023

Seeing that we have a great High Priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of god, let us come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.  (Hebrews 4:14, 16) What is the significance of the Ascension of Christ?  Why is Ascension Day the patronal feast day of Christ the King Anglican Church?
